Ugh...!

No, we haven't forgotten that we have a blog. And that Moshi has a blog. This rabbit slave has simply been... out of it. Fortunately, the bunnies seem to be completely oblivious and they continue to enjoy their daily chomping of romaine, baseboard, and carpet.

Things do seem to be calming down so we hope to be back soon. In the meantime, here's a picture.

What did I tell you? Completely oblivious!

Bittersweet Days

June and July are filled with bittersweetness for me...

June 26th

Nader and I celebrated our third anniversary. This blog isn't about us, but let me just say that as nuts as this guy drives me, he is also the best thing to have happened to me.

Part of the reason I love him is that he loves the bunnies.
...Ironically, I don't think this bunny loves him as much.
Especially when she's not on the ground.
June 28th

It's been one year since our Moshi left us and he is missed every day. While it is so sad that he is no longer with us, he left us wonderful memories. (If you haven't still, check out Moshi's blog. Every now and then I share one of my favorite memories from his perspective... Sure, it may be weird but it was very therapeutic when I started soon after his passing. Now it just makes me smile).

Quintessential Moshi. Getting into trouble all the time. (No worries,
we only allowed him to eat from the bag long enough to snap a picture)

July 4th

As awesome as American independence is, last July 4th Nader and I adopted Asher Jedi Master, better known as Ashy. Jamili definitely grieved the loss of Moshi, but a week after I could tell she was lonely and probably ready for a new friend. We took her speed dating at the Utah Humane Society and she fell for the first bun we brought into the pen. Three days later they were sharing a space. Talk about bonding success! Ashy is a shy and bunny, but he has slowly grown out of his shell. We'll be celebrating his "birthday" soon.

I love this bunny, and his bunny face to death.
July 18th

Jamili's "birthday"! Since the buns' birthdays are relatively close we'll be celebrating them together. I'll be making a bowl for Ashy like I did for Moshi and Jamili last year. I know... I'm such a slacker, but the last weekends have been full of activities and I haven't had the opportunity to get my butt to Color Me Mine. Rest assured, they'll be treated to salad deliciousness to celebrate.

The Pissy Poof and me. Pissy Poof is Jamili's newest nickname.

July 13th

This year it will have been 10 years since our sweet Tiny left us. As we already established, I am a slacker and I have yet to share Tiny stories... I am a lazy blogger, but she is remembered constantly. It was thanks to Tiny that Moshi, Jamili, Ashy, and my sisters bunnies, Toki and Lagos have had bunny loving homes to adore them.

My tiny Tiny. One of the best things to have ever happened to my family and me.

So yes, a mix of happy and sad makes for bittersweet days. I hope you are all having fabulous summer! Today we are enjoying a storm after 100°F weather.

My place? Wrong.

The apartment is the bunnies' burrow, and they just let me live with them. Here's the proof:

My BYU magazine didn't survive, but at least they left Jimmer intact. *sigh*

On other news, the bunnies have been molting like crazy. They are freakin' dandelions! *Hop* *POOF!*  *Hop* *POOF!* Jamili is much easier to pluck groom since she molts by sections... Ashy, on the other hand, molts all over on top of getting the usual tufts of hair that stick out. In addition to dried papaya I've started giving Ashy a fresh pineapple chunk a day to help with his digestion. He has had a few days of bunny indigestion which of course have freaked me out. Thankfully, a few hours after I give him some simethicone he goes back to his glutton self, but I do worry. Any tips?

Anyway, Nader and I have started taking them out once a week (usually on Sundays) to groom the lose hair away. Ashy likes the outdoors. As soon as he is plopped on the ground he begins nomming on grass. He'll continue munching away even while I run my hands through his coat to get all the hair out. Eventually he relaxes and flattens himself. It's total bunny spa for him.

*nom nom nom nom*
Jamili isn't too fond of grooming time. She doesn't mind the massaging but she doesn't really care for the outdoors. And doesn't care for grass either. On the plus side, her dislike of outside has encouraged some hoomin-bunny cuddle time. Okay... maybe that's just a plus for me, the hoomin.

"Well, mum... you're the only KNOWN thing out here so I guess you'll do for a
safety blanket since Ashy's too busy eating"

Sleepy Bun(s)

Going...
...going...

...gone.

A few seconds later I got the bunny butt. I got the message....

BONUS: Has your bunny ever freaked you out with this sort of flop?
I took 3 pictures and she wouldn't even budge! I nudged her and she finally woke up.
...and then I felt really guilty.

The bunnies have scolded me for not sharing their stories often enough. I have no excuse but the fact that I can't get into blogging mode. I'm trying! I'm trying!

Jamili's New Hangout

When you're a bunny like Jamili, nothing is off limits. The world is your... uh... burrow? And so, Jamili's new hang out spot is the dining room table chairs.

Dark, warm, soft... Yeah, this could work. Just need some hay on that chair over there,
and uh... yeah, that other chair will work as a fine litter box.

I have yet to get good video of her hopping from chair to chair, but trust me, it is pretty darn adorable. (The only thing that isn't terribly adorable are the chew marks all over the table... but I think Mr. Ashy is also to blame for those).

When treats are small...

...there's a good chance the bunny will bite your finger.

I wonder what my finger tasted like. Thankfully, Ashy realized that whatever he had chomped on was not a piece of a papaya and released my finger before drawing blood.

On another note, here in Utah we had some freezing rain today. Here's a video by BYU students (my Alma Mater) "enjoying" the weather.

And in case you were wondering, I was never a good ice skater. Yeah, today was fun...
